A Season of Change and Gratitude

Perhaps you’re thinking about holiday plans and how that works during this dumpster fire of a year like we are, and you want something low drama to consider. November means a few things in our lives, especially this year: election day and Thanksgiving. I for one will be thankful when election season is well and finally over and we can shift our focus to being thankful for what we have and working towards equity. As tomorrow is election day, if you haven’t already voted, please do so. We feel very strongly about our responsibilities as citizens to participate in the electoral process. I feel very strongly (*waves* political science major here) that voters make informed decisions. Do your research, know who you’re voting for (or against) at all levels of government. If you have any challenges finding your sample ballot or finding resources to help you evaluate the candidates on it, please DM me. I’m happy to help you get the information you need to be an informed voter!

In case you need some extra support, because I do, we want you to hear this again: we’re proud of you for making thoughtful, informed decisions for yourself, your family, your community, and our country. We’re proud of you for every single thing you do to care for yourself, so you can take care of your people (yes, you then your people, in that order).

As we all move into winter amidst continued containment measures for the virus that shall not be named, we want to bring you some tales of determined women so we can remember that determination combined with hard work and persistence can lead to progress in time. Whatever happens in the election and the weeks after, there will be much work to be done in the weeks and months to come. We are still paying attention to the diversity of our books and authors, and are learning so much in the process. I hope you’ll consider joining us in reading these titles, either with us or after you read our musings throughout the month. If these titles don’t feel like what you need in your reading life this season, we’re happy to help you find titles that might serve you better.
