Welcome to readerly confessions, witch edition. Y’all, there are not enough hours in the day to read all the witchy books we want to consume this October, so please trust when we say, we are SO excited about the list we have for you this month. The potentials list was long, and good, but this list is *chef’s kiss* and we are most excited about different titles, however today, the favorite prize goes to the book we’ve been excited about the longest, the one we’ll be discussing with YOU at Virtual Book Club on Friday, October 22, at 7:30 p.m. – Once and Future Witches by Alix E. Harrow. But, we can only discuss it with you, if you sign up here to get an invitation. Costumes welcome, witchy attire encouraged!
Ohh, and a Virtual Book Club sneak peak, on December 10, we’ll be discussing Deanna Raybourn’s A Perilous Undertaking (Veronica Speedwell #2), which is currently on sale at $5.99. (If you haven’t read book one, do yourself a favor and pick it up first!)
Oh readers, it’s the most wonderful time of year! The weather is cooler, pumpkins are everywhere, and it’s (more or less) socially acceptable to wear witch hats and read nothing but witchy books! Ok, so we do have a plan to include one or two non-witchy books on the reading schedule for the month, but you won’t be finding out about that until the reading life review. (While witchy non-fiction is appealing, we have some other goals too.)
If you’d like to read more about why we are so excited to read books about witches, check out this post from last October. If you’d like a bigger list of witchy titles to pick from, you can find one here. As for what we’ll be reading for #celebrationofwitches2021, and sharing, that list is below!
Witches Steeped in Gold by Ciannon Smart
The Vine Witch by Luanne G. Smith
The Year of the Witching by Alexs Henderson
Once and Future Witches by Alix E. Harrow*
Gods & Monsters (Serpent & Dove #3) by Shelby Mahurin
*We’re only planning to share about Once and Future Witches at Virtual Book Club on Friday, October 22 at 7:30 p.m., so sign up here to get the meeting link!
So readers, what do you think of this year’s witchy selections? Anything that needs to go on our list for next year? Or the year after? Or the year after that?!
