Here at Heart.Wants.Books, we do value the importance of having the voices of people who don’t look like us speak into our lives. While our usual goal is to read and review at least one author of color each month, some months we feel the draw to lean in a bit more, like during Black History Month. The more we read, the more we understand just how much we have yet to learn, and we are delighted to do so from the authors who’ve made a deliberate choice to be teachers in their chosen fields. This February we have a selection of titles, both fiction and nonfiction, by Black authors, as we have our own observance of Black History Month. We may not be digging into the history part, but we are focused on learning from Black authors and reviewing those works here. Of note this month is that all of our titles except one can currently be found on Kindle Unlimited. If you’re inclined to read along, this could be an excellent option for you! This February, we’ll be reading and reviewing:
The 4 Financial Languages: The Secrets to Communicating About Money by Tarra Jackson (review here)
Soul Reset: breakdown, breakthrough, and the journey to wholeness by Rev. Junius B. Dotson (review here)
Freedom Is a Constant Struggle by Angela Y. Davis
Have We Met? by Camille Barker
Token Black Girl by Danielle Prescod
What are you looking forward to learn by reading this month?
